Trademarks registered in the UK are protected in Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland), Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the British Indian Ocean Territory, but not in Ireland and the Channel Islands. The types of trademarks that can be registered in the UK include: product trademarks, service trademarks, collective trademarks, certification trademarks and series trademarks. The Trademark Law stipulates that a trademark application can specify multiple categories, and the trademark classification adopts the International Nice Classification of Goods and Services.

1. Submit the name, address and nationality of the applicant;
2. Provide the Chinese or foreign name of the trademark;
3. Provide clear trademark images;
4. If your trademark is in color, you must specify which color it is. If you submit your trademark in black and white, you can use any color in the future;

Time required for UK trademark registration:

2. Official receipt time: 2 weeks
3. Review time: 2-3 months
4. Announcement and objection period: 3 months
5. Trademark registration certificate: 6-10 months
Check the trademark application process:
1. As trademark application is a complicated and lengthy process, in order to avoid fruitless efforts and waste of money during the application process, searching the register is an essential step. A search usually yields two results;
2. Find out whether the trademark you applied for is duplicate or similar to others;
3. Find out whether our trademark meets the government’s trademark law standards.
The law does not require that you must go through the registry search process, but we strongly recommend that you do a registry search before applying for registration. The UK Trade Marks and Patents Office (TPO) does not provide free searches when accepting applications, so it is recommended to conduct an independent search before registration.
