Talabat is part of Home Delivery Hero, the world’s leading online food ordering and delivery marketplace. Founded in Kuwait in 2004 by a small group of entrepreneurs, Talabat has successfully expanded to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and other parts of Jordan, making it the largest and most popular food ordering app in the region.
Talabat operates in many Middle Eastern countries, such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, Talabat has partnered with restaurant giants such as Burger King, KFC and Pizza Hut.
Talabat's development history:
In 2004, Al Loughan, an employee of a Kuwaiti private equity investment fund, took a fancy to the food delivery business and founded Talabat, the earliest food delivery platform in the Middle East.
At the end of 2009, Talabat bought back the franchise rights from its Saudi partner.
In February 2015, Talabat was acquired by Rocket Internet for US$170 million. In March of the same year, it was merged into DeliveryHero, a subsidiary of Rocket Internet, to become its Middle East division.
In 2016, Talabat has had more than 8 million orders, more than 25,000 daily visits, and more than 400,000 registered users.
