What is Amazon Counter?
Counter is part of the Amazon Hub family, which includes lockers. Amazon designed and built the counter technology from scratch to create a faster and simpler experience for customers. For store partners, Counter enables store associates to serve customers without disrupting their daily activities, fostering truly meaningful interactions between stores and customers.
Amazon Counter pickup location:
Amazon has partnered with Next, a large British fashion chain, to offer a click-and-collect option, which means shoppers can place an order on the Amazon website and then pick it up at one of Next's 500 UK stores. In addition, Italian bookseller Giunti is also a partner of Amazon. This third-party pickup service is not currently available in the United States.
Amazon Counter development status:
In June 2018, Amazon launched a new delivery method for American customers: Counter: picking up goods at the counter of a nearby retail store. Amazon is partnering with pharmacy RiteAid to launch this delivery method. RiteAid will currently provide this service to 100 stores and will expand it to 1,500 stores by the end of the year. Amazon also hopes to get other retailers, including small businesses, to join the program.
