Amazon Cloud Platform service classification. Amazon Cloud Platform's services can be divided into three categories:
The first category is foundation services, which mainly include the most basic services in cloud computing, such as computing, storage, network and database. They are not only the most frequently used services by users, but also the foundation for building other AWS services.
The second category is application services. This type of service is mainly to help developers simplify writing applications on the AWS cloud platform.
The third category is deployment and management services. This type of service helps users deploy and manage applications on the AWS cloud platform.
Next, I will introduce to you some commonly used Amazon cloud services.
1. Amazon SageMaker
Artificial intelligence and machine learning are two of the hottest trends in IT right now, but many of the tools associated with these technologies require a lot of skills and training to use. SageMaker was released in November 2017 in an attempt to make machine learning accessible to all developers. It is a fully managed platform for building, training, and deploying machine learning models, and runs on ultra-fast AWS instances powered by NVIDIA GPUs.
2. AWS DeepLens
It also launched SageMaker, and Amazon launched DeepLens. This isn’t actually a cloud service; rather, it’s a video camera that integrates with SageMaker to teach developers the basics of deep learning so they can use it for cloud development. It comes with tutorials, sample code, and pre-trained models. Basically, users need to start adding deep learning skills to their resume.
Amazon is taking pre-orders for DeepLens now. The device will start shipping in June this year.
3. Amazon QuickSight
Today, every business wants to mine its big data for valuable business insights that will help it outperform its competitors. However, many business intelligence (BI) tools that perform this analysis are very expensive. QuickSight promises to change this with easy-to-use business analytics at 1/10 the cost of traditional BI solutions. AWS cloud services became generally available in November 2016, and last year Amazon added several new features, including geospatial visualization, private VPC access, tablet support, calculated SPICE fields, wide table support, HIPAA compliance, and more.
4. AWS Glue
Flashy visualizations and advanced analytics get a lot of attention in the big data space, but many analysts and data scientists spend most of their time doing low-level ETL chores crunching data. AWS Glue became available in August 2017 with the goal of simplifying ETL by running these workloads in the cloud very cost-effectively. It integrates AWS database and analysis tools, as well as MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases in AWS Virtual Private Cloud. It is serverless (meaning users don’t have to provision infrastructure) and uses familiar technologies such as Scala, Python, and Apache Spark.
5. Amazon Cognito
AWS provides various services for developers, and Cognito is one of them. It simplifies the process of adding logins to your web or mobile applications. It integrates with Google, Facebook, and Amazon login services, as well as Microsoft Active Directory and SAML enterprise authentication. It also supports multi-factor authentication and meets most compliance requirements, including HIPAA, PCI DSS, and SOC.
6. Amazon Organizations
Organizations is one of several tools Amazon has introduced to make it easier for large companies to manage their AWS cloud services. Generally available since February 2017, it provides policy-based management for companies with large numbers of AWS accounts, and it also includes the ability to group certain accounts together and apply consistent policies to them. It also helps simplify billing. Best of all, any AWS customer can use AWS Organizations at no charge.
7. Amazon Pinpoint
Most companies today interact with their customers through multiple points of contact. For example, email, text, phone call, mobile push message, etc. Pinpoint can send and track messages across all of these customer engagement channels. Amazon also offers a REST API that enables developers to embed Pinpoint’s functionality into their applications, and the service has built-in customer segmentation and analytics capabilities. It offers a lot of free offers, then charges users per message sent and per event.
8. Amazon Sumerian
Launched in November 2017, Sumerian simplifies the process of creating and running augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and immersive 3D content. It supports multiple hardware platforms, including Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Android and iOS mobile devices. It’s simple enough for newbies to use, and integrates with other AWS services, including an AI service that can add interactive characters to VR scenes. Sumerian offers some free deals, and prices above that depend on the amount of data stored in the service and the number of views it receives. Note that users may incorporate other costs for related services into the Sumerian scenario.
9. Amazon Chime
Similar to Skype, Amazon Chime is Amazon's unified communications service, which was launched in February 2017. It allows users to set up and run voice or video conferences and calls, and includes the ability to share content with participants. Unlike many services that require participants to dial in, Chime automatically calls the people invited to the meeting at the designated start time, and it works across a variety of devices. It also integrates with Alexa for Business.
10. Amazon WorkDocs
People may not realize it, but Amazon owns a file-sharing and collaboration service similar to Dropbox, Box, Microsoft OneDrive, and Google Drive. WorkDocs is known as a service that includes integrated security, pay-as-you-go pricing, and strong integration capabilities, and also serves as a repository for enterprise content management solutions. Additionally, it has an SDK and an API for integrating WorkDoc into other applications and services.
