Amazon is a search-based e-commerce platform. 60% of consumers’ shopping behavior on it comes from keyword searches. The reason I say this is just to introduce what I am going to share next.
How much do you know about keywords? Of course, you must know that they are important. How important are they? Your traffic, exposure, ranking and sales are all related to them...
However, I found that many sellers did not spend time to seriously study keywords, but instead studied some "advanced" operation techniques every day. It seems like a simple thing, but there are very few people who can really stick to it and do it well. Sometimes no matter how many ads you run, the output ratio is not proportional. Have you ever thought that it is really because your keywords are too bad?
When editing a product for listing, many people’s keywords come from your own understanding of the product and from your competitors’ listings. In fact, the sources of keywords are not just these two channels.
How to collect keywords?
Here are some tips on how to collect keywords for your reference.
To understand the product, I will write down all the keywords related to the product that I can think of (precise or related);
I will search the keywords written above in the Amazon search box. The keywords recommended by the drop-down list are also one of the sources, so I will collect them first.
Check the listings of similar products (competitors' listings) and see what keywords are included in the titles and descriptions of other sellers' listings, and collect them as well;
Collect from reviews (whether it is your competitors or yours). In the reviews, buyers may use the product terms they are used to. At this time, you can collect them;
In the category (classification) where the product is located, this is also the keyword, collect!
When we run an ad, Amazon will recommend some popular keywords with high exposure, which can also be collected;
There are also collections through third-party channels, such as Google;
There are also many keyword generation software on the market, which is also a channel;
I have not only collected on Amazon, but also on wish, eBay, and AliExpress. Would you only buy things on one platform? No, I believe foreigners will not, they will also compare prices from three different platforms;
With such a large population, in addition to Amazon, there are also many local e-commerce companies in various countries. You can search this channel when you are free to see what others are selling. Search for popular keywords in the search box, collect them, and use them as reference for your own listing.
Verify that the keyword is available?
There are so many channels. If you go through all the methods I mentioned, you can find a bunch of keywords, which are uneven. We still need to filter them again to see whether the collected keywords are usable or not, and we need to conduct a second verification.
Search the collected keywords in the Amazon search box first. If the products found are the same or similar to your products, they are similar products. Dear, keep it, if the difference is too big, eliminate it!
Screening is done by placing advertisements (the cost of this is a bit high). If the keywords have no exposure or have exposure but no conversion rate, both will be eliminated.
After screening, the ones left are the "elites". I will make these "elites" into an Excel spreadsheet according to my own habits. You can do the same according to your preferences.
Things to note when writing keywords
Now that we have collected the keywords, we cannot leave them to rot. We must use them when the time comes. However, there are some things we should be careful about when using them.
When you go to Taobao to search for products, would you search like this: "Women's cute and fresh floral suspender dress"? If you search like this, your girlfriend will ask you "Are you dreaming of flying to the sky?" (assuming you have a girlfriend). Believe me, foreigners think that the simpler the better. The longer the keywords, the less likely they are to use them. Don't think that your keywords include all the features of your product and that if they are added up, they can circle the earth, and your product's exposure will be very high. The result is the opposite. At this point, try not to use long keywords, it is better to use short phrases or words;
Don’t repeat keywords. Don’t use too many of them, as they will take up space.
In terms of order, you should write the most relevant and accurate words first, from near to far, and make sure to write the words correctly. If you take 99 steps and make a mistake in the last step, you will be punished.
Although keywords should be concise and clear, you can’t use abbreviations that even buyers may not know.
No keyword is always popular. What should you do? Optimize continuously based on data to ensure the accuracy of keywords and ensure that buyers can find your products.
When the holidays are coming, please seize the keywords of the holidays, such as Halloween and Christmas, to bring a wave of traffic to your products;
