Importance of Bond:
Bond is a kind of security deposit that American importers need to purchase from the U.S. Customs. When importers are fined for various reasons, the U.S. Customs can deduct money from the bond. All goods imported into the United States need to purchase a bond, that is, pay a certain bond fee to the U.S. Customs as a deposit.
U.S. importers must purchase BOND from customs. Even if there was no ISF requirement, it was required for customs clearance. You can buy a continuous bond (also called an annual bond, which only needs to be purchased once a year and is suitable for importers who import goods frequently) or a single bond (a one-time purchase for a specific shipment). If you buy a continuous bond, you do not need to buy an additional ISF bond. If you buy a single bond, you must buy an additional ISF bond.
The fee for a continuous bond is approximately US$500 for cargoes valued at less than US$100,000 per year. The minimum fee for a single bond is US$50 per shipment, and an additional US$5 is charged for every US$1,000 in value. The minimum fee for an ISF bond is US$90 per shipment for cargoes valued at less than US$100,000.
If CNEE does not purchase BOND, it means that it has not been registered with the US Customs. Even if the ten items of the ISF are correct, it will not be accepted by the customs. At that time, it will not be able to clear customs and will also face fines. However, please note that when you receive the ISF information provided by the customer, remember to ask the customer whether CNEE has purchased BOND. This is very important.
