What is Salesforce?
Salesforce is a customer relationship management (CRM) software service provider founded in March 1999 and headquartered in San Francisco, USA, which provides an on-demand customer relationship management platform. Marc Benioff is the current Chairman of the Board and CEO. It ranks 240th overall in the Fortune 500 list and third in the software industry, behind only Microsoft and Oracle.
What services does Salesforce provide?
Salesforce.com's customer relationship management (CRM) services are divided into five major categories: SalesCloud[6], ServiceCloud, DataCloud (including Jigsaw), CollaborationCloud (including Chatter) and CustomCloud (including Force.com), with more than 100,000 customers.
1. Salesforce1
The Salesforce1 platform brings together Salesforce.com, Force.com, Heroku and ExactTarget, forming the cloudservices family.
2. Salesforce.com
Salesforce.com mainly provides enterprises with the Salesforce1 platform, and also provides enterprises with case management and task management interfaces, as well as systems for managing automatic routing and continuous escalation of important events. The Salesforce customer portal also allows customers to track their own situation, which also includes social plug-ins that allow users to communicate and talk on the social networking sites provided by Salesforce after joining Salesforce. Salesforce.com also offers analytics tools and a host of other services, including email, chat software, Google search and access to customers' licenses and contracts.
3. Force.com
Force.com is a cloud platform as a service (PaaS) based on social network data and can be extended to different mobile terminals. It allows developers to create multi-tenant additional applications to meet the needs of IT departments and independent software developers to develop their own enterprise applications using different programming languages. Force.com applications are built on the same basic architectural pattern as Salesforce.com.
4. Work.com
Work.com, formerly known as Rypple, is a social performance management platform that helps managers and employees improve job results through continuous training, real-time feedback, and recognition. It is used as a solution for sales performance, customer service and marketing, and serves the human resources department.
5. Data.com
Data.com, formerly known as Jigsaw, is a cloud-based automated system for capturing and managing CRM records within a user's Salesforce.com account.
Data.com is also an online business directory for companies and business people. It is built, maintained and accessed by a global community of more than 100 million users. It is also a large database that supports users to exchange and share more than 2.9 billion business information from more than 4 million companies.
6. Desk.com
Desk.com, formerly known as Assistly, is a cloud-based customer support system for communicating with customers and solving their problems. Desk.com includes the following features:
Multi-channel capabilities for handling customer requests (knowledge base, chat, email, Twitter, etc.).
A B2C communication interface, available as a web application and mobile application.
A professional joint support team that can solve customer problems more flexibly and thoughtfully.
An administrative interface to easily configure the system.
Rich analytical data.
7. Do.com
Do.com is a cloud-based task management system for small groups and businesses. It was launched in 2011[20] and discontinued in 2014. Salesforce didn't provide any reason for shutting down the service, but it does offer an export tool to save data entered into Do.com. The Do.com domain was sold to a startup in 2014.
8. Site.com
Site.com is the portal for Salesforce Lightning App Builder, a technology that enables rapid cloud-based application development.
9. Salesforce Ideas
SalesforceIdeas is a suggestion management system based on Dell IdeaStorm, which allows registered users to add, propose, correct and comment on various ideas. Each idea is tagged as an item, and when an idea is implemented, Salesforce will update the status of these items.
10. AppExchange
Launched in 2005, Salesforce App Exchange is a third-party application platform that runs on the Force.com platform online application market. The app is available in free, yearly, and monthly subscription versions. The scope of application availability has now moved from SharePoint integration to approval management. As of March 2014, it has 2,213 apps with a total of 2,268,253 installs.
11. Webservices
In addition to the Web interface, Salesforce.com also provides SOAP/REST Web service APIs, allowing it to be integrated with other systems.
12.SalesPerformanceAccelerator
Salesforce.com launched a new product called SalesPerformanceAccelerator in July 2013. It combines CRM with Data.com's performance management applications and customer-focused information from Data.com.
