What is Shopify Ping? How to use Shopify Ping to communicate with customers as a customer service tool

Shopify Ping is a free iOS app that you can use to manage customer messages. You can use Ping to integrate with third-party messaging channels like Facebook Messenger or Apple Business Chat to send all messages to a single inbox, so you can save time by replying to all messages in one place.

To use Ping, you need:

Setting up Shopify Ping

step:

Use your iOS device to install Shopify Ping from the Apple App Store.

In Ping, log in to your Shopify account.

Using Shopify Ping with Kit

Kit is a digital marketing assistant that can deliver email and social media campaigns. It can also create Facebook and Instagram ads for your online store. When you download Shopify Ping, you also install Kit for your Shopify store so that you can communicate with it using Ping.

Ping lets you review and edit ads and social media posts created with Kit before you publish them. You can also use Ping to view and respond to marketing recommendations from Kit.

If you're not already using Kit, you can set it up through Ping. If you are already using Kit, installing Ping will change your communication preferences so that Ping is automatically selected as the preferred communication method for Kit.

From Ping Setup Kit

When you set up Kit, you connect Kit to your store's Facebook business page. You can also connect Kit to your Facebook ad account and create Kit recommended audiences for Facebook ads.

From the Ping Home screen, tap Kit.

Click Get started with Kit.

If your store's Facebook Business page is listed, click it. Alternatively, tap Search again to log in to Facebook to connect your account to Kit, and then tap your store's Facebook Business Page.

Click Confirm Facebook Page.

Click Connect your Facebook Ad Account, then select your Facebook ad account.

Accept the Facebook terms and conditions.

Select your target country to create an audience for your Facebook ads.

Integrate Shopify Ping with third-party messaging services

You can use Shopify Ping to sync messages from Facebook Messenger. When the messaging service is integrated, you can view and reply to messages in Ping. To integrate Ping with a messaging service, you need to install the messaging service app in Shopify.

You can integrate Ping with one or more of the following services:

Apple Business Chat – When customers browse your online store on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac, they can use the Messages app to start a conversation in your online store. You can read and respond to their messages in Ping.

Facebook Messenger channel – You can use the Facebook Messenger channel to let customers make purchases directly through messaging and respond to customer questions.

When you integrate a messaging service with Ping, you can view and reply to messages from that service in Ping.

Connect the Facebook Messenger channel to Shopify Ping

After you install the Facebook Messenger channel, you can connect the channel to Shopify Ping. After you connect Messenger to Ping, you can use Ping to read and respond to messages that customers send you through your Facebook Business Page.

Note: Even if you already use Facebook Messenger to communicate with Kit, you need to connect your Facebook Messenger channel to Ping to be able to read and respond to your customers' messages on Messenger.

From the Shopify Ping home screen on your iOS device, tap the app icon:

The app icon is in the upper left corner of the screen.

Tap Messenger. If you don't have the Messenger channel installed, you can follow the steps to set it up.

Click on the toggle to Enable in Ping.

Connecting third-party messaging services to Shopify Ping

After you install an app that supports Ping, you can connect the app to Ping. After you connect your app to Ping, you can use Ping to read and respond to messages that customers send you using the service.

From the Shopify Ping home screen on your iOS device, tap the app icon:

The app icon is in the upper left corner of the screen.

Tap the app you want to connect.

Click on the toggle to Enable in Ping.

View and respond to messages in Shopify Ping

You can view messages from Kit and messages from customers in the Home screen of Shopify Ping. This is your inbox, where you can view and respond to any messages from the services you have enabled.

When you reply to a message in Ping, the reply is sent through the original messaging service so that the customer receives a reply to their original message.

You can mark messages as read or unread from the Home screen.

Send a link to a product or draft order in a conversation

You can share products available in your online store in Ping through Apple Business Chat. You can also send draft orders for products that are available in your online store and in the Apple Business Chat or Messenger sales channels (depending on which channels you use with Ping). In Ping, open a conversation.

Click on the Store icon.

The store icon is located to the left of the reply field

Click Products to open a list of available products.

Tap Products.

Send a link to a product or draft order:

– To link to a product, select Share product page. – To send a draft order, select Create draft order. If you want to send a draft order for a product that has multiple variants, then select a variant and tap Send.
