Currently, the phenomenon of following sales is a very troublesome thing. Almost 80% of sellers have experienced being followed in sales. This is also the most troublesome part of the platform, especially for small sites such as Canada and Mexico.
With the arrival of the Christmas peak season, follow-selling is even more rampant. For follow-sellers, the peak season is a good opportunity to make a fortune, but for sellers who have been operating steadily and betting on a good harvest during the peak season, seeing their hard-earned listings being followed is really not a happy thing.
Given the current status of the Amazon platform, it is impossible to cancel the sales model of follow-selling in the short term. Therefore, we can only take targeted countermeasures when encountering follow-selling to minimize the losses.
Today I would like to share with you a summary of some of the situations of copycat sales that I have encountered during my many years in the industry, as well as list the methods that can effectively drive away copycat sales.
1. Send a warning letter
If there is no brand registration at present, the first reaction when seeing copycat sales is to send a warning letter, first using the seller's account. Of course, this is almost useless. But if you have several buyer accounts sending warning letters at the same time, the timid ones may leave. The content of the warning letter is almost always something like "we are going to do a TEST BUY"! It is also recommended that all seller friends use some third-party software to monitor follow-up sales, so that they can find out whether there is follow-up sales at the first time.
2. Test Buy
Let the buyer place an order and complain after receiving the goods. Just don't mention sensitive words, such as "trademark" or "copyright". As a buyer, simply state that the goods are not as described.
3. Make pending orders
First, register for a free Visa virtual credit card and set a single spending limit on the credit card. Secondly, register an Amazon buyer account and bind a Visa virtual card. The delivery address of the buyer's account here must be a real and valid US address or local country address, do not use the Chinese address. You can write any name that fits the American name.
Then purchase all the products of the follow-selling seller (in this case, due to the credit card spending limit, a bug in Amazon payment and bank payment will generate a pending order). Here, the Amazon system will mistakenly believe that the bank account is delayed. Pending orders can be kept for up to 20 days. If the payment clearing system has not received the payment after the time is up, the order will be cancelled.
Key point: The pending order amount must be greater than the pre-set single spending limit of the Visa virtual credit card, otherwise the order will be placed.
4. Transparency Program
After the seller joins the "Transparency Program", the product will be affixed with a "Transparent Label" (a blue T label), which is a unique code, a bit like the UPC digital code, which is used to be scanned and identified by the Amazon APP (already supports Android and Apple).
After sellers join the Transparency Program, they can get an identifier from Amazon, which is an encrypted 26-digit alphanumeric code that can generate a unique QR code. These QR codes correspond to the seller's SKU, and sellers of follow-selling or counterfeit products cannot forge this QR code, thereby achieving the purpose of preventing follow-selling.
5. Find a service provider to follow the sales
Currently, the cost of FBM to drive away copycat sellers is basically several hundred yuan. If you can drive away the copycat sellers and it does not affect your own sales, then this part of the investment is still very worthwhile.
The latest technology for removing follow-selling was launched some time ago. Through internal operations of Amazon, the follow-selling permissions are removed, making it impossible for the follow-selling stores to follow back, completely achieving the goal of no follow-back.
