Shopify’s retail update dated August 19, 2026 describes POS 11.14 changes including connectivity information on POS Home, identification using associated barcodes and automatic application of scanned valid gift cards.
Customer context has conditions
Authorized staff can view an identified customer’s eligible abandoned online checkout items. This is not browsing history. The announcement describes permission, email, checkout and location requirements.
Pilot before rolling out
Test a few devices with representative barcodes, connection failures and gift-card flows. Record the app version and results before expanding. Refer to the original update for access conditions and later changes.
