In international trade, whether you are selling goods on Amazon’s cross-border e-commerce or launching products in foreign markets, you need to make your products compliant, otherwise you will not be able to export smoothly. Different markets and product categories require different certifications and standards. Here we have compiled some of the most commonly used product export certifications for your reference.
1. EU CE certification
CE (Conformite Europeanenne), the CE mark is a safety certification mark and is regarded as a passport for manufacturers to open and enter the European market. Any product with the CE mark can be sold in European member states without having to comply with the requirements of each member state, thus achieving the free flow of goods within the EU member states.
In the EU market, the CE mark is a compulsory certification. Whether it is a product produced by an EU company or a product from other countries, if it wants to circulate freely in the EU market, it must be affixed with the CE mark to indicate that the product complies with the basic requirements of the EU's "New Approach to Technical Harmonization and Standardization" directive. This is a mandatory requirement for products under EU law.
The following products need to be affixed with the CE mark:
◆Electrical products
◆Mechanical products
◆Toy products
◆Radio and telecommunications terminal equipment
◆Refrigeration and freezing equipment
◆Personal protection equipment
◆Simple pressure vessel
Hot water boiler
◆Pressure equipment
◆Pleasure boat
◆Building products
◆In vitro diagnostic medical devices
◆Implantable medical devices
◆Medical electrical equipment
◆Lifting equipment
◆Gas equipment
◆Non-automatic weighing instrument
2. EU Authorized Representative
The European Authorised Representative (European Authorised Representative or European Authorized Representative) refers to a natural or legal person explicitly designated by a manufacturer outside the European Economic Area (EEA) (including the EU and EFTA). This natural or legal person may perform specific duties required of the manufacturer by the relevant EU directives and laws on behalf of the manufacturer outside the EEA.
1. According to EU legal requirements, in order to achieve product traceability, products with CE mark placed on the EU market by manufacturers must be marked with the manufacturer's name and contact address. If the manufacturer is from a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA) (including EU and EFTA), its products must also be marked with the name and contact address of the manufacturer and the manufacturer's EU authorized representative on the label (nameplate or packaging).
2. To ensure that the EU competent authorities can timely check the technical files (TCF) of products affixed with the CE mark, overseas manufacturers should keep the latest version of the technical files at the EU authorized representative office for 10 years after the last batch of products is exported.
3. If any failure/accident/recall problems occur in the EU with products manufactured outside the EU, the EU agent should contact and report them and communicate with the competent authorities.
Sellers on the European site need to ensure that their CE-marked products are labeled with the contact information of the EU authorized representative before July 16, 2019. Such labels may be affixed to the product, its packaging, parcel or accompanying documents. Amazon will remove products that do not have the contact information of the EU responsible person (i.e. EU authorized representative) from the shelves!
3.WEEE Registration
WEEE registration, also called EAR registration because the official organization is called European Authorised Representative, is used to recycle electronic and electrical products themselves. Therefore, as long as the products you sell are electrically charged, you must register WEEE. Registration is based on shops. There are six categories of WEEE. Basically, products will be in the fifth category and registered by category. After registration, all products of this type can use this registration certificate. A company only needs to register once. If you want to add categories or brands later, you can apply for additions at any time!
Recently, many Amazon sellers do not quite understand this directive: "Is this directive only for large electronic products? Why are only my large electronic products being checked?" In fact, Amazon's strict inspection of WEEE registration codes is not only for large electronic products, but for six major categories. As for why only large products were found, the reason is that Amazon randomly checks six major categories, and many sellers were also found to have small lamps and other products.
4. US FDA certification
FDA is the abbreviation of Food and Drug Administration, one of the executive agencies established by the U.S. government in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Department of Public Health (PHS).
The FDA's responsibility is to ensure the safety of food, cosmetics, drugs, biologics, medical devices, and radioactive products produced or imported into the United States. The regulation stipulates that the FDA will assign a unique registration number to each registration applicant. Foreign institutions must notify the U.S. Food and Drug Administration 24 hours before food exports to the United States arrive at U.S. ports. Otherwise, entry will be denied and the food will be detained at the port of entry.
5.US FCC certification
The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) was established by the COMMUNICATION ACT in 1934. It is an independent agency of the U.S. government and is directly responsible to Congress. The FCC coordinates domestic and international communications by controlling radio, television, telecommunications, satellite, and cable. Many radio application products, communication products and digital products require FCC approval to enter the US market. The Federal Communications Commission regulates the import and use of radio frequency devices, including computers, fax machines, electronic devices, radio receiving and transmitting equipment, radio-controlled toys, telephones, personal computers, and other products that may pose a threat to personal safety.
Product export certification will be given away at the end of the year. If you miss it, you will lose. What are you waiting for? Come and have a look!
