Ebang Think Tank Releases "Cross-border E-commerce Development Report"
In 2020, the epidemic has caused global offline consumption to shift rapidly to online, and online shopping is becoming a basic consumption mode. According to eMarketer's forecast, global online retail sales will reach US$6.5 trillion annually. The huge overseas e-commerce consumer market provides the best opportunity for Chinese brands to go global.
At the market level, Europe and the United States are still the most important markets for cross-border e-commerce, but ASEAN has become my country's largest trading partner. With the advancement of RCEP, ASEAN will become the fastest growing cross-border market. A survey by eBoom Research found that more than 20% of China's cross-border e-commerce companies have settled in Shopee and Lazada, two cross-border e-commerce platforms targeting the Southeast Asian market.
At the channel level, compared with the highly concentrated e-commerce platforms in China, the overseas markets generally have a lower degree of e-commerce concentration, and models such as brand official websites and independent sites all occupy a certain market space. Correspondingly, Chinese cross-border e-commerce companies have also begun a three-dimensional channel layout. 25% of companies have opened independent sites, and another 25% said they are planning to establish independent sites. Independent sites have become an important channel for companies to break through business ceilings or expand into new markets. At the same time, independent station SaaS platforms such as Dianjiang provide sellers with mature and comprehensive solutions, greatly reducing the threshold for enterprises to develop independent stations.
At the cross-border e-commerce user level, overseas small B entrepreneurs are rising rapidly, and 26.9% of cross-border e-commerce companies have begun to serve this group, providing them with supply chain services such as product selection and light customization. In response to this trend, Newegg has also begun to accelerate its layout in China, expanding from professional IT products to all categories of products, while serving B2C and B2B customers.
