The Safe Way to Review on Amazon: The Early Reviewer Program

All sellers should know how important a good review (now changed to rating) is to building a listing, but every year when the peak season comes, Amazon will crack down on the manipulation of reviews, so how to get reviews safely is something new sellers are eager to know.

I wrote an article a while ago about the Early Reviewer Program and how to create it. However, I saw a related article a few days ago and found that the threshold for creating the plan was still $15. You should know that Amazon has changed the rules for some time. The current registration condition is that the price must be higher than US$9, instead of the original US$15. By lowering the threshold, Amazon can also increase more revenue.

Today I will mainly introduce some issues to new sellers who have just entered the industry. Old sellers can ignore them.

The following is the official introduction:

1. Mainly emphasize the benefits of reviews in increasing sales. Of course, the premise should be good reviews, so when sellers choose products to launch, they should choose those with good quality and potential. If you are not confident in the quality of your product, it is recommended that you do not choose to create the plan, because you may get bad reviews.

2. The Early Reviewer Program can bring up to 5 reviews to a listing, and the words “Early Reviewer Rewards” will be displayed on the front end. Amazon charges sellers fees and also returns rebates to buyers in some way to encourage them to leave reviews. This method is an official Amazon activity and is safe and effective.

3. Once the listing receives its first review, Amazon will charge the seller a fee of $60, which is valid for one year. Of course, some products may complete the plan within a month, which depends on the quality and sales volume of the seller's products. If 5 reviews are completed, the average profit is about $12 per review. Sellers can decide whether to participate based on their advertising budget.

Before creating an Early Reviewer Program, new sellers should review the FAQs in advance. If you have any other questions, you can open a case and consult customer service.

Here are a few to share with you:

Which SKUs are eligible for enrollment in this program?

SKUs with fewer than 5 reviews may be eligible for enrollment in this program. At this point, the SKU must also be priced higher than $9.00. We may stop soliciting buyer reviews if the offer price is less than $9.00. You may still register items in the program, but we will not solicit reviews from buyers who purchased items for less than $9.00.

Note: When sellers create a plan, they will find that products priced below $9 can be created normally, but such products will not receive reviews from the plan, and of course, Amazon will not charge you any fees.

Why do buyers trust these reviews?

We only invite buyers who have purchased the corresponding products to share their real experience, whether they provide 1 star review or 5 star review. We do not provide free products or discounts to these reviewers. We do not disclose whether a product is participating in the program when a customer purchases it because we want to gain insights from customers who actually choose to purchase the product without knowing they will receive a future reward.

Note: Amazon only provides a way to encourage buyers to leave reviews, but does not guarantee whether the reviews left are positive or negative. Sellers may find themselves receiving negative reviews after participating in the program. Of course, if the quality of your product is reliable, the probability of receiving positive reviews is still higher than natural reviews.

How is it charged? Am I paid per review?

The fee for each registration is $60 plus any applicable taxes. One registration includes all SKUs in the parent SKU family or standalone SKUs. You do not have to register sub-SKUs individually. Once you receive your first review through this program, you will be charged a $60 fee. Whether you receive 1 review or 5 reviews, this is the only fee you pay for that SKU. If you do not receive any comments, you will not be charged.

Note: If you create parent-child variations for your product, the plan is for the parent SKU. So no matter whether the buyer bought the product of sub-body one or sub-body two, the comments left will be counted in the plan.

If you want to create the plan for multiple children, then you should not create parent-child variants upfront. You can create plans for individual SKUs, wait until all 5 reviews are complete, and then merge them so that the parent can share the reviews.

Remark:

With the peak season approaching, store registration is becoming more difficult, and store security is becoming more and more important. It is certainly necessary to find someone to post reviews, but you also have to do a good job of checking it yourself and don’t blindly pursue the speed of posting reviews. Safety is the most important thing at this stage.

The “Early Reviewer Program” is an official compliance evaluation method and is also a good tool for creating new listings. For good products with excellent quality, it is still worth a try.
