A reader asked me what WEEE is? How to register and audit German WEEK? Today the editor will talk about this topic, friends who are interested can take a look together!
What is WEEK?
WEEE is the abbreviation of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, and its Chinese name is "Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive". It is a EU directive. The current directive number 2012/19/EU officially came into effect on August 13, 2012. According to the directive, each EU member state is responsible for the recycling and management of waste electronic and electrical equipment in its own country.
Why do I need to register for WEEE electronic product recycling?
Germany is a country with very strict environmental protection requirements, and electronic recycling laws play a vital role in protecting soil pollution and groundwater. All electronic product manufacturers in Germany were required to register as early as 2005. As Amazon's strategic position in global business continues to improve, foreign electronic devices continue to pour into the German market through Amazon. In response to this situation, on April 24, 2016, the German Environmental Protection Department issued a law specifically targeting e-commerce, requiring Amazon to notify foreign e-commerce companies selling on the Amazon platform to register for electronic device recycling. Before obtaining the WEEE electronic device recycling code, Amazon must order merchants to stop sales.
German WEEE Registration:
Germany has formulated the ElectroG Act (Electronic and Electrical Equipment Act) in accordance with the EU WEEE Directive. According to the requirements of the act, each manufacturer or importer must complete the registration of their respective products. The act came into effect on March 16, 2005. The German government authorizes Stiftung EAR (Elektro-Altgeraete-Register) to manage the registration of various manufacturers. According to the requirements of the law, manufacturers outside Germany must have a branch in Germany to be responsible for registration. If there is no branch in Germany, an authorized person is required.
The German Environmental Protection Department issued a decree on June 24, 2016, requiring that foreign electronic and electrical products sold on the Amazon platform must be registered with WEEE. Merchants who have not obtained a WEEE registration code must stop selling their products.
Registration Process:
The merchant fills out the registration application form and submits it → the recycling company draws up a contract and fee details → after confirmation by both parties, the recycling company issues a formal quotation → the merchant makes payment → the recycling company submits the information to EAR for review → EAR issues a WEEE code and enters it into the German Electronic Recycling Computer Query System → registration is completed.
