Amazon is a leader in retail and delivery. The company has been fine-tuning and adding new benefits to Prime membership, which costs more than $119 a year.
However, there are so many member benefits that it can be hard to keep up.
The Seattle-based company is working to quickly expand one-day delivery as it prepares to offer holiday flash deals that have yet to be announced. Amazon said it would spend $1.5 billion on one-day shipping in the fourth quarter.
Members know they can enjoy free two-day shipping, watch shows and movies on Prime Video and save 10% at Whole Foods Markets. But there are other freebies and ways to save with membership that aren't as well publicized, says Prime Insider, which lists news about new offers, shopping tips and deals. 1. Free one-day delivery
Amazon, the pioneer of free two-day shipping for Prime members, is making free one-day shipping the company’s new standard, much to the delight of procrastinators everywhere. Customers who place orders throughout the day will find their packages on their doorsteps by 9pm the next day. This option is now available for free on 10 million items, has no minimum purchase requirement, and varies by zip code. To see the option, filter by "Get it tomorrow" or look for the "One Day Free Service" logo, otherwise the option will be automatically selected at checkout.
2. Free same-day delivery
Even more amazing is that residential customers can get 3 million items for free on eligible orders of $35 in eligible ZIP codes. Ordered before noon and the item arrived on or before 9pm. Look for the "Free of the Day" option on qualifying items. Members can also now get two-hour grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh and now Whole Foods Market. Finally, Amazon Day lets members shop throughout the week and opt for free delivery on the day of their choice.
3. Early sales channels
Members get 30-minute early access to Amazon Lightning Deals, HoliDeals, and Daily Offers. These limited-time Gold Box deals offer discounts of up to 50% on a variety of products. Head to Amazon.com/gp/goldbox to shop the deal.
4. No expedited shipping
If you don’t need the item super fast, Amazon will give you an extra bonus. Select "No Expedited Shipping" at checkout to receive an on-the-spot discount, or get a bonus on a future purchase for agreeing to receive your order within six business days.
5. WOOT Free Shipping
Use your Prime account to shop on Amazon-owned deal site Woot.com and get free shipping. The site sells cheap refurbished electronics, housewares, clothes, and more. Don’t forget to check the clearance section to save even more. By the way, WOOT is an acronym for "Those Who Want It".
6. Mainly reading and music
Members get free access to over 1,000 digital books, audiobooks, magazines, and comics. Titles are updated frequently at Amazon.com/primereading. Look for the logo "Read for Free" and click to download on your Kindle or the free Kindle app. Some titles also have Audible companions so you can listen on your commute or in other situations. Additionally, Amazon First Reads allows Prime members to get a free book every month. Prime members can also try out Kindle Unlimited, which normally costs $9.99 per month or $1.99 for three months. In addition, members can listen to over 2 million songs and hundreds of curated playlists and stations for free.
7. Quality Family
Here's a sweet deal: Household members, including kids, can share membership Prime benefits, including videos, e-books, audiobooks, apps and games, by linking their accounts at Amazon.com/households. After agreeing to a shared payment method, adults retain their individual accounts while sharing membership benefits at no additional cost. Teens aged 13-17 can also shop on their own. Parents approve orders via text. Families also allow one other adult and up to four teens to share Whole Foods benefits.
8. Alexa Deals and Skills
Get a list of savings offers by asking your Amazon assistant, "Alexa, what are your deals?" Alexa will tell you the offer, price, and how much you're saving on that product.
