Remember to check these packaging requirements before FBA warehousing, so as not to delay your peak season sales!
Do you really understand the packaging requirements for FBA warehousing?
We all know that FBA’s advantages are obvious in helping sellers manage inventory, traffic, search rankings, shopping carts, and optimize supply chains. FBA has advantages, but if sellers cannot clearly interpret FBA policies and grasp FBA dynamics and changes, thereby creating the risk of rejection, they will not be able to save warehousing costs and fees, and it will be difficult to enter the warehouse in a timely and smooth manner during the upcoming peak season.
Before the peak season arrives, please be sure to understand these FBA warehousing packaging requirements!
The following is a detailed list of rules for warehouse packaging:
● Use six-sided hard packaging boxes with intact lids.
● Each box in your shipment must have its own FBA shipping label (printed from your Shipment Queue).
● Each pallet requires four labels, one at the top center of each side.
● When using large cartons to send multiple factory-packed products to an Amazon fulfillment center, please affix a unique shipping label to the large cartons used to transport the products.
● If using a used box, remove any old shipping labels or other markings.
● Use strong tape designed for delivery.
● After packing the box, shake it gently. The contents of the box should not move when shaken.
● Goods packaged in cartons should only contain one PO. If a carton contains goods from multiple POs, then make sure that one carton can only contain goods from a maximum of 5 POs.
● The maximum weight of carton packaging shall not exceed 22.5kg (50 pounds). If the weight of a single item sold exceeds 22.5kg (50 pounds), a label clearly stating “Team Lift” must be affixed to the carton to indicate that a team is required to operate it. If the weight of the box exceeds 45kg (100 pounds), a label clearly stating “Mech Lift” must be affixed to the carton to indicate that a machine is required to operate it.
● The weight of cartons containing jewelry and watches cannot exceed 18kg (40 pounds).
● Any side of the carton must not exceed 63.5cm, unless the size of the single-piece product exceeds 63.5cm.
If any side of the carton exceeds 63.5cm, the carton needs to be placed on a 1mX1.25m pallet, unless the size of the carton for the single-unit sale exceeds the size of the standard pallet.
● Cartons and packaging materials (eg cushioning, fillers) must adequately protect the goods during transport. If the goods are packaged in packaging materials that are not accepted by the Amazon fulfillment center, the goods may be rejected or additional packaging fees may be charged.
● Use large-sized cushioning, such as air pillows, whole sheets of paper, foam paper or bubble wrap, rather than loose filling materials.
● The size of the carton is chosen to ensure that there is minimum free space in the carton after the goods are placed in it. Space utilization can also be maximized by packing multiple items in one carton (provided the items are not damaged). The picture shows an example of poor carton packaging.
● Cartons cannot be bound with strapping tape, elastic bands, adhesive tape or additional strapping tape. Do not use large staples or nylon fiber tape as they pose a safety hazard to warehouse colleagues.
● Multiple cartons identified as sold together (e.g. sets) weighing more than 45 kg must be placed on a single pallet (one item for sale per pallet).
● Single-unit carton goods (such as furniture) weighing more than 45 kg need to be palletized. Pallet-sized boxes (also known as "Gaylords") are not permitted.
● Point-of-sale containers commonly used to display merchandise (such as open-front boxes or boxes without lids) may not be used.
Failure to comply with FBA’s product preparation requirements, safety requirements, and product restrictions may result in the rejection, disposal, or return of your inventory at the Amazon fulfillment center, a ban on future shipments to an Amazon fulfillment center, or additional charges for Amazon fulfillment center preparation services or your non-compliance.
In addition, the packaging materials of the goods cannot be random.
The following packaging materials are recommended:
● Bubble film packaging
● Full paper (preferably heavy kraft paper)
● Inflatable air pillow
● Polyethylene foam board
Do not use the following packaging materials:
● Various types of small pieces of packaging foam, including foam strips
● Pleated paper packaging
● Shredded paper
● Foam
Finally, there is a practical trick I want to tell you. Using a box that is at least 6" x 4" x 1" in size and weighs at least 1 pound, but no more than 25" on any side and weighs less than 50 pounds can reduce delays in receiving it!
Do you remember these packaging requirements? Remember to check yourself before putting the goods into storage, so as not to delay your peak season sales!
