Don’t be blinded by these myths about Amazon Global Selling

Recently, we have seen many misconceptions about the account types and store opening channels of Amazon Global Selling. In order to prevent more sellers from being misled by these false statements, we have made the following summary of the types of Amazon global stores for your reference.

Misconception 1: Only accounts opened on Amazon’s North American/European/Japanese websites are “Global Selling” accounts, and accounts opened through the Chinese website are not “Global Selling” accounts.

All kidding aside, this is totally wrong.

Amazon's "Global Selling" is a project that helps sellers conduct business on Amazon in North America, Europe, and Japan. Whether you log in directly to the North American/European/Japanese website to register, or register through the "Global Selling" entrance of the Amazon China website, you will eventually enter the registration platform and system of the destination market. This is like two different channels leading to one end. No matter which channel you take, when you open the registration link, it is the same. Moreover, by registering through the “Global Selling” channel of Amazon China’s website, you will directly see the Chinese registration page, allowing you to complete the registration more quickly!

Misconception 2: Only accounts opened through Amazon investment managers are "Global Selling" accounts. Accounts registered on the website by self-service are not "Global Selling" accounts.

Capitalized mistake!

There are two ways to register for an Amazon Global Selling account. One is to have an Amazon investment manager send you a registration link to assist you in opening an account; the other is to do it yourself and go to the Amazon website to register yourself. Regardless of the method used to register the account, it is an Amazon "Global Selling" account.

Myth 3: The “Personal Sales Plan” is for individuals to open accounts, and the “Professional Sales Plan” is for companies to open accounts.

Keep making mistakes!

When you start selling globally on Amazon, you may notice that you have two sales plans to choose from: Individual and Professional. Some sellers may think that the Individual plan refers to individual sales and the Professional plan refers to company sales. Sorry, your understanding is wrong.

In fact, whether you are an individual or a company, you can sign up for both sales plans. The main difference between the two plans is the fee structure and feature access permissions. Taking the North American market as an example, we can clearly see from the table below that the "Personal Selling Plan" will be charged a per-item fee, while the "Professional Selling Plan" account will need to pay a monthly rental fee.

The above two sales plans can be converted into each other. If you sign up for an Individual selling plan (Individual) when you register, you can also upgrade to a Professional selling plan (Professional) in the background later; if you sign up for a Professional selling plan (Professional) when you register, you can also downgrade to an Individual selling plan (Individual) later. Therefore, if you want to sell on Amazon, even if you do not have company qualifications, you can still apply for a professional selling plan on Amazon.
