Whether you are a big seller or a small seller, you will always have a surge in orders during a promotional event in a year. But I believe everyone has experienced that a surge in orders is like swiping a credit card. It feels good at the time, but you will feel sad when you return the goods (pay back) later! And the worst thing is that even if you have a surge in orders, minus the advertising fees, minus the money for returns, minus the money for logistics, and minus other miscellaneous expenses, it comes down to almost no money! You just worked for your brother-in-law for nothing!
Routine! It's all routine! No matter how much you plan, your brother-in-law can't figure it out!
So how to reduce the return rate after the explosion of orders? Let's continue reading!
Internal reasons
1. Complete product information
I believe that everyone has returned goods on Taobao, especially clothes, because clothes are non-standard products and there are many categories of materials, colors and styles. A piece of clothing may look very nice in the picture, but when you actually wear it, the size and material will be somewhat different. Therefore, when we describe product information, we must be detailed and accurate. Put yourself in their shoes and think about what information you would want to know if you wanted to buy this thing, and then try to complete all the relevant information.
2. Diversified picture display
Amazon also mentioned that our auxiliary pictures can show the usage scenarios of the products. What are the ways to use the product? What precautions should be taken during use? After all, text descriptions must be combined with imagination, but pictures can show it more clearly.
3. Be as objective as possible in your evaluation
It is inevitable that people will post fake reviews, but be sure not to exaggerate the product, because most people will read the reviews before placing an order. If some of the features mentioned in the reviews are completely unrealistic, the buyer may be disappointed after receiving the product and return it.
External Operation
1. Record emails
For example, if a customer requests a return, Amazon will issue a refund immediately without having to wait for the return. Amazon will then notify you that the refund has been issued, which means you have no say in whether a refund or other remedy needs to be issued to the buyer.
Once you have sorted through these emails, you can track your refund and verify that the return occurred within 45 days.
2. Find out the cause
You can get reports to find out the reasons for returns. The specific steps are as follows:
• In Seller Central, select Fulfillment under Report, select the Customer Concessions option, and then click Returns
• Choose Generate Report, you can get reports for 30 days or longer periods
•After getting the report, you can find the reason for the return! But not all reasons for return will be displayed on the report. If not, you can consult the Amazon Seller Center.
3. Check the product
If it is an FBA product, the staff will check and classify it after the seller initiates the return. There are some details here that you can learn more about, and you can apply for self-inspection and return.
•Unopened products are usually impulse purchases or wrong purchases, and there is no way to optimize this.
•Be sure to carefully examine the unpacked merchandise and find out the reason for return first. This type of return is generally related to the internal reasons mentioned above. The buyer feels that the item purchased is different from what he saw in the store or is inappropriate, so it is necessary to adjust the relevant information in the store.
•Product returns due to product defects need to be carefully inspected. It may be that the buyer does not want to pay for the return shipping, so the main thing is to see whether the product will affect secondary sales. And provide feedback to Amazon to find out the buyer’s true intentions and prevent other peers from engaging in disgusting operations. But if it is really a problem with your product, you have to reflect on it yourself.
4. Adjust policies
The return policy can sometimes affect the return rate of buyers. You can summarize your current return policy and see what can be optimized and adjusted. You can also learn from your peers. If you have the opportunity, it would be even better to talk to buyers!
